As an organization, we want to take a moment to honor the Indigenous territory on which we work, live and evolve.
« For the Foundation, it’s also our way of honouring the history that has shaped this land since time immemorial and continues to do so today. »
These territories have long been places of encounter and exchange between various nations and the Indigenous peoples. And today, it continues to be a place that welcomes a wide diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people.
We recognize the past and present struggles of Indigenous peoples for survival, rights, dignity and sovereignty.
For the Foundation, it’s also our way of honouring the history that has shaped this land since time immemorial and continues to do so today. It invites us to ally ourselves with these struggles, based on the recognition that justice is the foundation of reconciliation and the reciprocity that is desirable and necessary in future relations between our peoples.
The Foundation recognizes that this statement will be subject to change over time. It represents a first step towards building strong and lasting relationships with the Indigenous communities. We recognize the need for further work to foster reconciliation.
